It's been awhile...

The beginning of the year brought a time of sadness for the family, Ken's Grandma, Helen Kohls, passed away on January 7th at 87 years old. Her sweet smile and love of family and nature made her a wonderful Grandma and Great Grandma! Great Grandpa gave Josey Great Grandma's watch, which she hasn't taken off other than to shower since it was given to her. It means so much to her! We will miss you Grandma!

About the family, Kenny is now in Kindergarten and doing very well. He has made wonderful improvements in speech, he's doing well with his numbers and letters and he loves school! He also loves wrestling and flag football. He played flag football in the fall and Ken was his coach, they even got to play between the JV and Varsity football games one night and gota touch down! As for wrestling, he's in his 3rd year of the 4-6 year group that wrestles one night a week for 5 weeks and then has a mini match during the Varsity match. Next year is head gear and shoes if he's still interested.

Josey is in the 5th grade at Murray Lake Elementary. Can you believe she is going to start Middle School next year?? She has been very busy getting all A's and a B so far, being part of the Student Council again, doing ballet and jazz and also taking part in the West Michigan Youth Ballet (WMYB). The WYMB is a non-profit ballet company that she was able to be a part of and was in the full length Nutcracker ballet in December as a Chinese Ribbon and a Soldier (Papa & Daddy's favorite of course....Papa said that she was the only one that knew how to hold the gun right, ha!!). Also this year, she was able to go duck hunting for the first time with Daddy and Papa, she shot her first duck! What a well rounded girl!!
Ken is doing well at his new job which he has been at for almost a year now. We bought a travel trailer so he had a place to call home when he lived in Clarkston during the week (beats a hotel!!). The time away from home is hard, but we just enjoy our time as a family when he's here!
I started a new job within Wayland Union Schools. I was the General Ledger/Purchasing Accountant (which I still do some of that job) and now I also am the Dining Services Coordinator/Purchasing Accountant. I enjoy what I do and it keeps me busy. I took a Master Class in Accounting at GVSU in the fall and got an A!! Really tiring with Ken being gone all week, Josey's schedule for ballet and my studying made life hectic, but I obviously survived!

Well, we are off to Disney on February 11th with our trailer!! We are heading to Mammoth Cave on our way down, staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground at Disney from the 14th to the 18th, then we are off to Fort Myers to visit Matt & Shawnee for 2 days to enjoy the ocean which the kids have never seen! Then we will head for home on the 20th and stop in Tennessee to visit the Aquarium in Chattenooga then we are heading home. We can't wait!! With Ken's job, we didn't take a vacation last summer since he works so many hours during the summer. So, a year and a half without a vacation, we are so ready!!!
Until next time, take care!!
